Softball Recap: Fall Creek Comes Up Short

Fall Creek had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 8-12 to make it six. They fell just short of the Stanley-Boyd Orioles by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Crickets have suffered since April 11, 2025.

As for Stanley-Boyd, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

For Stanley-Boyd's part, Caitlen Ketterhagen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Ketterhagen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Stanley-Boyd's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kelly Lew, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Orioles beat Fall Creek by a score of 11-1 later that day.
