Basketball Game Preview: Sutton Mustangs vs. McCool Junction Mustangs

The Sutton Mustangs will take on the McCool Junction Mustangs on Friday. Sutton is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

On Monday, Sutton earned a 54-45 victory over Archbishop Bergan/Fremont.

Aidan Jones was his usual excellent self, putting up 24 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Weston Ohrt, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, McCool Junction unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They were beaten by Freeman 63-36. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sutton's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for McCool Junction, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.

Sutton suffered a grim 57-33 defeat to McCool Junction in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sutton was down 33-13.
