Softball Recap: Providence Comes Up Short

Providence's last matchup with Marvin Ridge could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Panthers lost 15-7 to the Mavericks. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Mavericks: they've now lost three in a row.

Camryn O'Connor and Pheonix Scott stepped up to the plate in a big way. O'Connor went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Scott scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Scott has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Emerson McAllister was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Providence's loss dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Marvin Ridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Coming up, Providence will face off against Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marvin Ridge, they will square off against Porter Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
