Soccer Game Preview: Cookeville vs. Cumberland County

Cookeville is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Cumberland County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cavaliers will welcome the Jets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cookeville's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cookeville is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lebanon just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They and the Blue Devils finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw. The result kept Cookeville happy, as they haven't lost a game since March 18th.

Meanwhile, Cumberland County made easy work of Bradley Central on Thursday and carried off a 9-5 win. Cumberland County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Bradley Central from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Nicolo Azzani led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by himself.

Cumberland County's victory bumped their record up to 12-2-2. Cookeville's draw gives them a new season record of 12-1-2.

Cookeville beat Cumberland County by a goal when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 3-2. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Jets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
