            Baseball Recap: Chenango Valley Warriors vs. Owego Free Academy River Hawks        
        
		
        
        
            Chenango Valley extended their losing streak  to four  on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-5 in the process. They fell  5-1 to the Owego Free Academy River Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the River Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  11-2  on Monday.
  Jimmy Fitzgerald was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 2-for-3 with one  double and one  RBI.  Cole Trebilcock was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with one  stolen base and one  run.
As for Owego Free Academy, the  win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2-1. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
On Owego Free Academy's side,  Mathew Lewis looked comfortable as he  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off   two  hits. Lewis has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Conlan Taylor and  Connor Kotski did most of the damage at the plate:  Taylor  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double, while  Kotski  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI and two  doubles. That's the most  hits  Kotski has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Matt Higgins, who  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  run.
While Chenango Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 11:00  a.m.  on Thursday.
