Ansley/Litchfield suffers fifth straight loss on the road

Recap: Ansley/Litchfield Spartans vs. Overton Eagles

The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by Overton 61-20. Ansley/Litchfield has not had much luck with Overton recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Ansley/Litchfield still got an impressive performance from Kerry Ryan, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

It was another big night for Jolee Ryan, who scored 20 points along with eight steals and five rebounds for Overton. Ryan also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Wood, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.

Ansley/Litchfield's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.6 points per game. As for Overton, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ansley/Litchfield will take on Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ansley/Litchfield in Nebraska (Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is ranked 54th, while Ansley/Litchfield is ranked 258th). As for Overton, they will head out on the road to take on Shelton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelton's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Overton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
