Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Richmond

Richmond put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 win over the Lafayette County Huskers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in February.

Richmond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Johnson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dryden Hendrix, who posted 17 points and five rebounds.

Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Richmond's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Lafayette County, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-1.

Richmond and Lafayette County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Richmond (ranked 17th) will meet Knob Noster (ranked 218th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Lafayette County (ranked 55th) will meet Sweet Springs (ranked 282nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
