Volleyball Recap: Mulberry Starts Season with Victory at Home

Mulberry gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lake Region Thunder with a sharp 3-0 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

While Mulberry won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-13, 28-26.

Mulberry can attribute much of their success to Ernesto Rangel, who had five aces and three digs. That's the most digs Rangel has posted since back in March of 2024.

Looking ahead, Mulberry will be playing in front of their home fans against Auburndale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give Mulberry their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Lake Region, they will venture away from home to square off against Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Region is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
