Softball Game Preview: Columbiana Clippers vs. Cardinal Mooney Cardinals

The Columbiana Clippers will take on the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Columbiana is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Howland just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 18-10 to the Tigers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Clippers, who until this matchup were averaging 3.92 runs allowed.

Cameron Perkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Landry Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Mooney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 15-10 to Harding. Even if the Cardinals couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Cardinal Mooney's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Columbiana, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
