Baseball Game Preview: New Deal Lions vs. Olton Mustangs

New Deal is 8-2 against Olton since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. New Deal will be playing in front of their home fans against Olton at 7:30 p.m. New Deal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, New Deal beat Abernathy 9-4. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Antelopes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Tristan Bigham made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Emilio Rodriguez was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season. Dallas Sumner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Olton had just enough and edged out Ralls 5-4 on Saturday.

Olton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. New Deal pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

New Deal came out on top in a nail-biter against Olton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will New Deal repeat their success, or does Olton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
