Preview: Simeon Wolverines vs. Brooks Eagles
Simeon is 7-0 against Brooks since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Simeon Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Brooks Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Simeon is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brooks in Illinois (Simeon is ranked 113th, while Brooks is ranked 505th).
Simeon pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-55 to iSchool of Lewisville.
Meanwhile, Brooks' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Kankakee, falling 81-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Brooks has suffered since December 7, 2023.
Jacob Johnson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Hayes, who scored six points along with two steals.
Simeon now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Brooks, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.
Everything came up roses for Simeon against Brooks when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 82-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Simeon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
