Football Recap: Clever Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Quintin Lemmer and Kendall Piper

Clever entered their contest against Strafford on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Blue Jays fell 17-12 to the Indians. The game marked the Blue Jays' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Kendall Piper and Quintin Lemmer certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Piper rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while Lemmer rushed for 109 yards.

Clever's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Strafford, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Coming up, Clever will venture away from home to challenge Springfield Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Jays will need to watch out since the Fighting Irish have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. As for Strafford, they will host Fair Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.63 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
