Basketball Recap: Wheaton Takes a Loss

Wheaton lost against Quince Orchard back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wheaton Knights were beaten by the Quince Orchard Cougars 59-20. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Cougars are ranked 131st).

Quince Orchard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bridget Vandegrift out in front who posted ten points. Vandegrift is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. Rayan Whitaker was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Wheaton dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Quince Orchard, they moved to 8-8 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Wheaton has already played their next matchup (against Kennedy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Quince Orchard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 35-27 win against Gaithersburg on the 4th.
