            Softball Recap: Fort Gibson Tigers vs. Hilldale Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            Fort Gibson hadn't done well against Hilldale recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. The Tigers walked away with  a   10-6  win over the Hornets. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the   4-0 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in September of 2022.
 Karsen Pemberton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

 At the plate,  Miley Wafford and  Bristol Green did most of the damage at the plate:  Wafford  went a perfect 4-for-4 with three  runs, three  doubles,  and one  stolen base, while  Green  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, two  stolen bases,  and three  RBI. Those  three  RBI gave  Green a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Izy Jones, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  stolen base.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fort Gibson  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilldale only managed eight  hits.
Fort Gibson has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hilldale,  with the  defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4.
 Looking ahead, Fort Gibson will take on Stilwell at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Hilldale, they will get a bit of extra time to process the  loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glenpool at 6:00  p.m.  on September 8.
