Preview: Otsego Knights vs. Eastwood Eagles
Otsego is 1-9 against Eastwood since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Otsego Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Eastwood Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Otsego has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Eastwood will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Otsego was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Rossford.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jocelyn Cornell, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sam Lehr was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Otsego were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Eastwood beat Fostoria 57-50 on Tuesday.
Otsego's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.5 points per game. As for Eastwood, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Otsego came up short against Eastwood when the teams last played back in January, falling 35-25. Can Otsego avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
