Baseball Recap: Gilmer Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Gilmer had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 13-10 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Kilgore Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Buckeyes: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-2 defeat.

As for Kilgore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15-1 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 20-7 Spring Hill and 19-7 Spring Hill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.6% over those games).

For Kilgore's part, Tanner Beets spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. The Bulldogs are 4-2 when Beets allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-13-1 otherwise.
