Baseball Recap: Auburndale Takes a Loss

Auburndale entered their match against Marathon on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Apaches fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Tuesday.

This is the second loss in a row for Auburndale and nudges their season record down to 9-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Marathon, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Auburndale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 win against Stratford on the 9th. As for Marathon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-0 victory against Greenwood on the 9th.
