Basketball Recap: Gila Ridge Comes Up Short

Gila Ridge lost against Estrella Foothills back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gila Ridge Hawks had to suffer through a 81-21 loss at the hands of the Estrella Foothills Wolves. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 58-6.

Ella Gettings was Gila Ridge's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Arianna Hernandez took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Leading Estrella Foothills to victory were Eva Amenhauser and Nemo Sidhu. Amenhauser dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 14 boards, and ten assists, while Sidhu went 11 of 21 on her way to 24 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Amenhauser a new career-high in steals (seven). Raylee Hancock was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Gila Ridge is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Estrella Foothills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Gila Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-27 loss against Cibola on the 9th. As for Estrella Foothills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 82-27 win against Greenway on the 12th.
