Basketball Recap: Leroy-Ostrander's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

LeRoy-Ostrander had won three straight games and Camden Hungerholt did his part to make it four on Friday. The LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals enjoyed a cozy 74-55 victory over the Mabel-Canton Cougars thanks in part to Hungerholt, who went 13 for 27 on his way to 38 points and six rebounds. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Hungerholt, who went 8 of 18 to rack up 20 points and seven boards. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last nine games he's played.

Mabel-Canton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Darian Hershberger, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Kale Tollefsrud was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and five steals.

LeRoy-Ostrander's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Mabel-Canton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LeRoy-Ostrander will venture away from home to face off against Houston at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Houston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully LeRoy-Ostrander likes a good challenge. As for Mabel-Canton, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars challenge the Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Mabel-Canton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.
