Football Recap: Roxana Piles Up the Points Against Frankfort

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Roxana had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 55-26 win over the Frankfort Redbirds. The Shells might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 27 points or more this season.

Roxana found their leader in sophomore Mekhi Shorter, who rushed for 102 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

Roxana was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 231 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Roxana, racking up 19 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brandon Green, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Roxana's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Frankfort, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Roxana will host St. Joseph-Ogden at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frankfort does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
