Softball Recap: Plainview Takes a Loss

Plainview came up into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Eastwood Troopers by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Bulldogs just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Alani Trevino and Jakhai Gomez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Trevino scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Gomez scored a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, Gomez posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Amberlyn Castillo also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Eastwood, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainview will take on Monterey at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastwood, they will venture away from home to face off against Canutillo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Eastwood: 3.5, Canutillo: 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
