Gates Chili took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Irondequoit, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Eagles 6-5 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Eagles back in March, they had to take a 13-7 loss.

Abbie Graupman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Deanna Georgetti, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Meyers, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Gates Chili was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .302 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Gates Chili's record is now 2-3. As for Irondequoit, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Gates Chili wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-9 loss against Pittsford on the 23rd. As for Irondequoit, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-0 defeat against Churchville-Chili on the 26th.
