The Battle Ground Academy Wildcats will square off against the Providence Christian Academy LIONS at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Battle Ground Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Battle Ground Academy took on Middle Tennessee Christian on Tuesday. The Wildcats blew past the Cougars 18-1. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Khloe Burton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Burton was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Cooper Corbett was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Eily Wolfe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Providence Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Middle Tennessee Christian.
Like Battle Ground Academy, Providence Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabella Harbour. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Harbour has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
Battle Ground Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Providence Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Battle Ground Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Providence Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Battle Ground Academy's way against Providence Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March, as Battle Ground Academy made off with an 11-2 victory.
