Baseball Game Preview: Dominguez Dons vs. Mayfair Monsoons

For the second straight game, Dominguez will face off against Mayfair. The Dons will be playing at home against the Monsoons at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Dominguez hasn't scored more than two runs for seven games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Dominguez lost 16-1 to Mayfair on Tuesday.

For Mayfair's part, Josiah Gamez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Gamez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Nolan Fox was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jeremiah Lennear was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Mayfair always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dominguez only posted an OBP of .304.

Mayfair is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dominguez, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dominguez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mayfair struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
