El Cerrito and Nordhoff are surprise names atop their divisions in the initial Bowl Game rankings.

De La Salle finds itself atop the Northern California Division I State Bowl Game rankings, an extremely familiar spot.

It's the first edition of the MaxPreps 2012 California State Bowl Game rankings, and a lot of familiar names top the lists.
There's still a long way to go but take a look at which California teams have the top numbers in the
most recent MaxPreps Freeman computer rankings. Check back each week to see which teams have changed spots in the rankings.
Also keep in mind that this is the first season with the CIF Regional Bowl Games. Section champions will be considered for the Dec. 7-8 contests that award berths to the state-title games.
