Preview: Brookings vs. Mitchell
The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. Brookings will square off against Mitchell at 7:00 PM on Thursday. Brookings are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the match prepared for a fight.
Brookings won against Lincoln two weeks ago with 21 points, and Brookings decided to stick to that point total again last Thursday. Brookings were able to grind out a solid win over Huron, winning 21-7. The success made it back-to-back wins for Brookings.
Meanwhile, Mitchell took their game against Spearfish by a conclusive 41-7 score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-0.
Their wins bumped Mitchell to 4-5 and Brookings to 5-4. In their victory, Mitchell relied heavily on senior Drew Kitchens, who rushed for 78 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brookings will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
