Softball Recap: Governor Mifflin Takes a Loss

Governor Mifflin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 18-12 to the Muhlenberg Muhls. One positive for the Mustangs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Claire Hoffman led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Abby Brunelli was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Hoffman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Governor Mifflin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Governor Mifflin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Muhlenberg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Governor Mifflin will challenge Mechanicsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Muhlenberg, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Reading at 11:00 a.m. Reading has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something Muhlenberg will no doubt try to take advantage of.
