Football Recap: Pike's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Pike, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 41-21 margin over the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Red Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pike got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bobby Thomas out in front who rushed for 145 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Those 145 rushing yards gave Thomas a new career-high. Mychael Lewis was another key player, rushing for 83 yards and two scores on only five carries.

Guerin Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Quentin Klee, who threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Guerin Catholic's success: when he posts at least 250 passing yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Isaiah Lewis was Klee's top target, picking up 111 receiving yards and one TD.

Pike's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Guerin Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pike will host North Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.14 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Guerin Catholic, they will welcome Culver Academies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
