Abbeville Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Lakeside School recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Generals will look to defend their home field against the Chiefs at 4:00 p.m.
Abbeville Christian Academy came up short against Deerfield-Windsor on Friday, falling 11-1. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Abbeville Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Bower, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Meanwhile, Lakeside School entered their tilt with Westfield School on Saturday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 9-2 victory. Considering the Chiefs have won 25 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Carson Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trent Hayes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Conner Britton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Lakeside School lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Lakeside School's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 40-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Abbeville Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lakeside School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Abbeville Christian Academy came up short against Lakeside School when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
