Basketball Recap: Benbrook Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Benbrook faced off against Whitesboro on Saturday. The Benbrook Bobcats were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Whitesboro Bearcats. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 722nd, while the Bearcats are ranked 275th).

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Hall, who went 6 of 14 en route to 13 points. What's more, Hall also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in November. Another player making a difference was Peyton Henderson, who posted 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Benbrook and nudges their season record down to 11-11. As for Whitesboro, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Benbrook will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carter-Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Whitesboro, they will face off against Pilot Point at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitesboro is facing Pilot Point at the right time seeing as Pilot Point is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
