Basketball Recap: North East Grape Pickers vs. Meadville Bulldogs

After flying high against Northwestern on Friday, North East came back down to earth. The North East Grape Pickers were outmatched by the Meadville Bulldogs and fell 78-48. The Grape Pickers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-24.

Meadville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lucas Luteran out in front who went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Luteran is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Burchard, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten boards, and nine assists.

North East's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Meadville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

North East will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cathedral Prep at 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Meadville will take on Oil City in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
