Basketball Recap: Barnesville Comes Up Short

Barnesville and Tuscarawas Valley squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Barnesville had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 49-16 loss at the hands of the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 66 points in the game before, the Shamrocks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Tuscarawas Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elli Wallick led the charge by going 6-for-9 to rack up 14 points and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Bourquin, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Barnesville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Tuscarawas Valley, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.

Barnesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they will square off against West Muskingum at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tuscarawas Valley's defense has only allowed 25.7 points per game this season, so West Muskingum's offense will have their work cut out for them.
