Football Game Preview: Germantown Warhawks vs. Monona Grove Silver Eagles

The Germantown Warhawks will head out on the road to take on the Monona Grove Silver Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Germantown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Wauwatosa West to the tune of 36-6. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Trojans are ranked 171st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vincent Inga was his usual excellent self, rushing for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 37 receiving yards and one TD. Those 162 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Rave Sickler also deserves some recognition as he punched in his first rushing touchdown of the season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Germantown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 206 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Monona Grove had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past the Lancers 39-8. With the Silver Eagles ahead 22-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Germantown's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Monona Grove, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
