Volleyball Recap: Penelope Jimenez and Divyna Ibarra-Villegas Secure Win for Valley

Valley won the last time they faced Atrisco Heritage Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vikings walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Jaguars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.

Valley was led to victory by Divyna Ibarra-Villegas and Penelope Jimenez. Ibarra-Villegas had 11 digs and four aces, while Jimenez had 15 digs. Those 15 digs gave Jimenez a new career-high.

Valley's record now sits at 2-0.

Coming up, Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Silver at 6:00 p.m. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Cibola on the 28th.
