Baseball Game Preview: Lisle Lions vs. Manteno Panthers

Lisle is 2-8 against Manteno since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lions will head out to face off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Lisle has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lisle is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Tinley Park, falling 23-9.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manteno). Everything went their way against Clifton Central on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-3 win. Considering the Panthers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Buehler was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddoz Toepper, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one RBI.

Manteno was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive matches.

Manteno's record now sits at 10-4. As for Lisle, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12-1.

Lisle might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Manteno when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
