Sewickley Academy will face off against the South Side Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sewickley Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cornell on Monday. Sewickley Academy blew past Cornell 15-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Sewickley Academy considering their one-run performance the match before.

Charlotte Andrews (2028) made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Sewickley Academy let Gabby Edmunds (2028) and Sophie Crichton (2027) run wild. Edmunds (2028) got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Crichton (2027) went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That home run marked the first that Edmunds (2028) has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sanaa Grant (2026), who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, South Side had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against Rochester as they made off with a 16-1 win. That's two games straight that South Side has won by exactly 15 runs.
The team relied heavily on Karis Dunham, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Morrow, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
South Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sewickley Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for South Side, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sewickley Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like South Side struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sewickley Academy skirted past South Side 12-11 when the teams last played back in April. Will Sewickley Academy repeat their success, or does South Side has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
