Softball Game Preview: Moniteau Warriors vs. Keystone Panthers

The Moniteau Warriors will take on the Keystone Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Moniteau will be strutting in after a win while Keystone will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Moniteau made easy work of Allegheny-Clarion Valley and carried off a 16-5 victory. Considering the Warriors have won four games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Moniteau got a massive performance out of Alex Stewart, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Stewart a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Beatty, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Moniteau always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Allegheny-Clarion Valley only posted an OBP of .414.

Meanwhile, Keystone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 14-4 to Rocky Grove.

Moniteau has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Keystone, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Moniteau took their victory against Keystone in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 19-2 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
