Basketball Recap: Orange County Takes a Loss

If Orange County was riding high fresh off their 64-43 takedown of Monticello last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Orange County Fighting Hornets were beaten by the Charlottesville Black Knights 88-28 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Black Knights are ranked 29th).

Orange County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Laylianah McBrayer, who posted six points and nine boards, and Sydney Hearl, who earned eight points.

Even though they lost, Orange County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.
