Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Lions vs. Olympia Titans

Two dominant guards in Samantha Lecas and Ava Pazos are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Calvary Christian Academy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Olympia Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Calvary Christian Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 66 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against DeLand on Monday. They were beaten by the Bulldogs 70-8. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 126th).

Meanwhile, Olympia came up short against Lake Brantley on Thursday, falling 51-27. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Calvary Christian Academy will have to keep a close watch on Pazos and Tanisha Carter, a pair of players who had a big impact on Olympia's prior game. Pazos posted 11 points in addition to seven steals and six assists, while Carter had eight points along with 11 steals and eight boards. Carter is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Tahge Lowe also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Olympia's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.
