WPIAL AAA Big Nine recap October 29, 2013
Thomas Jefferson extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAA Big Nine this week by beating West Mifflin, 35-0. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Elizabeth Forward took down Greensburg Salem 60-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Chase Winovich was a force in the backfield as Thomas Jefferson topped the Titans.
Winovich was a passing and rushing force as Bill Cherpak's team bested West Mifflin. He completed 3 passes for 28 yards and also ran for 245 yards. Winovich's favorite target this week was Dalton Dietrich, who caught 5 passes for 61 yards.
Winovich was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 245 yards as the Jaguars topped Ray Braszo's team. Teammate Austin Kemp added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Nico Law of Ringgold is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,173. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dietrich. The Thomas Jefferson star has 38 catches for 735 yards.
