Recap: Field Kindley Golden Tornado vs. Wellington Crusaders

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Field Kindley Golden Tornado can now relate to. They took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wellington on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Field Kindley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Tunstall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 245 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Tunstall was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Deontay Galindo was another key contributor, rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.

Even if they lost, Field Kindley's defense sure didn't make it easy: Wellington's QB was sacked six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Joesph Neuenschwander and Zac` Becker who racked up five sacks between them.

Wellington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dusty Bannister, who threw for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Nick Giefer and his 119 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wellington's win.

Field Kindley's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Wellington, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Field Kindley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wellington will head out on the road to face off against Wamego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wamego will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
