Basketball Recap: Coolidge Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Coolidge walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs on Wednesday, sneaking past 56-54. The victory was nothing new for the Colts as they're now sitting on six straight.

Despite the loss, Georgetown Visitation Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyssa Fitzgerald went 7-for-13 en route to 21 points and six steals. Fitzgerald is becoming a predictor of Georgetown Visitation Prep's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 3-1 (and 11-12 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Becca Safavian, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Coolidge's win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points over those games. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-13.
