Preview: Bergman Panthers vs. Elkins Elks
Bergman and Elkins are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Bergman Panthers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Elkins Elks at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Bergman's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
Bergman put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Valley Springs 79-50 on the road. That's two games straight that Bergman has won by exactly 29 points.
Meanwhile, Elkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Green Forest on Saturday, taking the game 50-39. Given Elkins' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Green Forest is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bergman's win bumped their record up to 21-8. As for Elkins, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
Bergman couldn't quite finish off Elkins in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 78-76. Can Bergman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
