Baseball Recap: Monarch Wins Going Away Against Mcarthur

Monarch barely beat McArthur the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Monarch Knights were the clear victor by a 14-8 margin over the McArthur Mustangs on Thursday. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Juan Londono and Van Maxwell made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Londono struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Maxwell tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Londono gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Londono went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Maxwell scored two runs while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance gave Londono a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Anthony Mercado was incredible, scoring four runs while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Noel Soledispa also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory snapped Monarch's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. As for McArthur, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monarch will host Wellington at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wellington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season. As for McArthur, they will welcome Nova at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
