Baseball Recap: East Columbus Wins Going Away Against Heide Trask

East Columbus not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15th. They blew past the Heide Trask Titans 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Gauge Simmons was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because East Columbus is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise. Simmons was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Braylon Waddell was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooks Mclean, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

East Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heide Trask only posted an OBP of .318.

The victory made it two in a row for East Columbus and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Heide Trask, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

East Columbus will have a chance to go back-to-back against Heide Trask: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
