Softball Recap: Padua Franciscan Bruins vs. Beaumont School Blue Streaks

There's no place like home for Padua Franciscan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Beaumont School Blue Streaks 6-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Padua Franciscan also won the last time the pair played back in April.

Alex Camarati was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Camarati has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Camarati was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Julia Ezzie was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Samantha Ezzie, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

On Beaumont School's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Jarc, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a stolen base, and a double.

Even though they lost, Beaumont School didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Padua Franciscan only tossed four.

Padua Franciscan is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Beaumont School, they dropped their record down to 8-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Padua Franciscan will square off against Firelands at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Firelands is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. Beaumont School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
