Basketball Game Preview: Elmwood Trojans vs. West Prairie Cyclones

Elmwood is on a three-game streak of home losses, West Prairie a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Monday. The Elmwood Trojans will welcome the West Prairie Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. Elmwood will be strutting in after a victory while West Prairie will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Elmwood didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cuba/Spoon River Valley, but they still walked away with a 62-56 win.

Meanwhile, West Prairie took a blow against Macomb on Thursday, falling 73-16. While losing is never fun, the Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while the Bombers are ranked 111th).

Elmwood's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for West Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

Everything came up roses for Elmwood against West Prairie in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the team secured a 66-28 win. Does Elmwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Prairie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
