Basketball Recap: Arlington Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Arlington faced off against Great Plains Lutheran on Saturday. The Arlington Cardinals took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Great Plains Lutheran Panthers. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Myra Lentz was nothing short of spectacular for Great Plains Lutheran: she went 6 of 12 on her way to 18 points. Lentz continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Esta Cameron was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Arlington's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Great Plains Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arlington will welcome St. Mary at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Great Plains Lutheran, they will square off against Groton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Great Plains Lutheran's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Groton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
