Soccer Preview: Two Teams That Keep Winning Big Finally Face Each Other

The Elk Rapids Elks will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against the Kalkaska Blazers at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Elk Rapids' defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Charlevoix with a sharp 8-0 victory. Given Elk Rapids' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Charlevoix are ranked 124th), the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Kalkaska has not lost a match since August 27th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Grayling. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 7-0.

Elk Rapids has been performing incredibly well recently, winning seven of their last eight contests. That run has powered them to an 11-1-3 record this season. The wins were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight matchups. As for Kalkaska, they have now won three of their last four games on the road. That's given a solid lift to their 5-3-1 record this season.
