Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carrboro). Everything went their way against the Vance County Vipers on Friday as Carrboro made off with an 18-2 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Teagan Fichter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Lauren Curry was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Vivian Martin was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Carrboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Carrboro pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Vance County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carrboro will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East Chapel Hill at 5:00 p.m. on April 9.
